St. Paul carries a cathedral and a capitol within sight of each other, and the drawing puts both domes in the same line. Every other domed city in this catalog has only one.

What is in the drawing

A low vaulted hall opens the left, its roof curved and its front broken into a run of small arches. The cathedral dome rises immediately after it, ribbed and topped with a lantern, seated on a broad arcaded base whose cornice is drawn as a zigzag. Tall slabs climb behind, one stepping back at the top toward a fine spike. Past them a second dome appears, smaller and set on a colonnaded drum, with pinnacles and arched openings gathered around its shoulders. A long arcaded wing runs out to the right and the line finishes under a flat canopy.

Who buys it

The twin cities split this purchase cleanly. Somebody from Minneapolis will not buy St. Paul and the reverse is just as true, which makes it a safe gift only if you know which side of the river the recipient claims. Get that right and the two domes do the rest.

Mug or canvas

The ratio is 2.134 to 1, within a hair of the 2.143 mug band, so this wraps about as exactly as anything in the catalog. Coverage of 0.070 is heavy and it is spent on curves, which hold up better than fine parallel lines when reduced. The honest argument for a canvas is that the two domes are the point, and at 11oz they end up on opposite sides of the mug where you cannot see both at once.
