Berlin runs from a columned gate at one edge to a tower carrying a faceted ball at the other, and puts the cathedral between them at half their height.
What is in the drawing
The gate opens the left, a row of columns beneath a flat roof with a small crowned shape standing on top. A slim column with a flared crest follows. A tower rises past it under a stepped onion dome. The cathedral takes the centre, a dome and lantern flanked by two smaller domed turrets above an arcaded front. The needle tower stands beyond, its ball drawn in facets, and plain slabs close the right.
Who buys it
An enormous number of people spent their twenties in this city, and they are the market. Weekend visitors make up the rest. The ball on the needle is what gets named first.
Mug or canvas
Facets on the ball are short crossing strokes that fill into a dot when shrunk. Coverage 0.067 over a 2.280 shape, so ceramic takes the drawing right round and the gate faces away from the needle. Ask for 24 by 16 and the ball stays a sphere.
