The four minarets in Agra are drawn standing apart from the building they belong to, which is exactly how they are built, and the space between them and the dome is the reason the shape reads from any distance.
What is in the drawing
A tall slab opens the left, notched at the top, with a small plain block beside it. A banded turret follows on a long low wall whose base is drawn as a run of zigzag teeth, broken by a gate in the middle. A capped kiosk stands at the end of it. The great dome holds the center, bulbed and finialled, with four small domes around its drum and four tall minarets standing clear at the corners, all of it over one deep arch. A gateway follows with more kiosks along its parapet, and a flagged block closes the right, taller than the gate before it.
