Bakersfield is drawn as a low town rather than a downtown. Nothing in it towers, and the tallest shapes are a spire and a slab that only just clear the roofs around them.
What is in the drawing
A tower under a pointed finial opens the left beside a slim shaft carrying an onion cap, the two of them standing over a low building with a pitched roof. A shallow arch then carries a bridge across the middle ground, drawn with a second line under its span. Behind it a broad hall rises to a gable with an arched doorway cut into its front. A long arcade of small round arches runs on from there, and the right end lifts into a plain tall slab and a tower finished with a spire.
Who buys it
Central Valley pride is a real thing and this is what it buys. It sells to families who have farmed or worked oil in the county for generations, and it is given at birthdays and anniversaries rather than picked up on a trip.
