Louisville is drawn around a low tented roof at its center, and the towers stand back from it on both sides. It is the most symmetrical composition in this batch without ever being an obvious mirror.
What is in the drawing
A church steeple opens the left, banded at the neck and finished in a fine point above a gabled front. A tower with a stepped crown climbs beside it. The center is a long low hall under a tented roof, its front drawn as a run of sharp zigzags. Behind it two towers stand with pointed caps, and a third rises taller with a rounded crown and a notched shoulder. A slim tower with a capped point follows, and a wide low block with a deep arcade closes the right.
Who buys it
Louisville is bought in spring more than any other month, for obvious reasons, and the drawing deliberately has nothing to do with horses. That makes it the gift for somebody who actually lives there rather than somebody who visited once.
Mug or canvas
At 2.13 to 1 this lands almost exactly on the mug band. It wraps the cup with no stretch and no gap, ending where it begins. That makes the mug the natural format here. The canvas works too, but the ratio means noticeably more empty ground above and below than Charlotte or Cleveland leave, so the art sits smaller in the frame than you might expect.
