Dayton spends its first third almost flat and then rises steadily for the rest, so the drawing reads left to right as a climb rather than as a row of buildings.
What is in the drawing
A long low bridge runs along the far left, close to the ground line with nothing above it. A small spired tower and a stepped block follow, then a pointed cap on a slim shaft, and a rounded dome resting low on a wide base. The centre is a run of tall slabs, the tallest stepping back at the crown, with a cluster of pointed gables beneath them. Past that a pinnacled tower rises, then a stepped block, and a low pitched roof closes the right.
Who buys it
Dayton sells to people who are from there and to the aviation crowd, and the second group buys it for a reason that is not in the drawing at all. It works as a leaving present, and the bridge is what locals recognise before any of the towers.

Ink of 0.060 spread over a 2.653 to 1 frame means this is a long drawing without much weight in it, which is the combination that survives a small print best. The mug takes it fully round. On canvas the 24 by 16 separates the gables at the centre, which is the only crowded passage.
