Naples opens on stone rather than on a spire, and the castle takes up more of the line than anything else in it. The drawing climbs late and only twice.
What is in the drawing
The long wall of the castle opens the line with a flag above it, low and horizontal for a good stretch. A square campanile climbs out of the roofs beyond, tapering to a fine finial. Arcaded fronts run beneath. A church front rises at the centre under three pointed pinnacles. Past it the line drops into low blocks pierced with arches, lifts through a wide arcaded building, and finishes on a rotunda ringed with points.
Who buys it
Italian-American families are the core of this one, and Naples is the city a great many of them actually came from rather than one they visited. The castle is the shape people recognise from the harbour approach.
Mug or canvas
Height governs the ceramic print here, because 2.044 falls short of what the wrap wants. Ink is light at 0.076, which leaves the arcade openings clearly apart and leaves the finial on the campanile as a very small mark. That finial is the reason to go past 18 by 12 on canvas.
