Krakow is drawn around one asymmetry, and it is the correct one: the two towers of the market church are not the same height and the drawing does not tidy that up. Everything else runs low and wide beneath them.

What is in the drawing

A round tower opens the left under a tiered cap, banded across its base. A slim tower with a small spire stands beside it. The cloth hall runs long and low through the first third, its front scalloped into arches under a peaked gable. Then the two spires go up together, one clearly taller than the other, above a wing of pointed arches. A wide tented roof follows. The castle closes the right, several turret roofs over an arched gate.

Who buys it

Polish-American families are the whole of this one in most of the country, and Chicago alone accounts for a lot of it. The unequal towers are the detail that proves somebody drew this city rather than a generic old town.

Mug or canvas

The ceramic print scales on height, since 1.938 sits comfortably within the proportion it wants. Ink at 0.097 holds the scalloped front of the cloth hall open. Those arches are what a size has to keep, and they stay separate from 24 by 16 on canvas.
