Akron is drawn with an unusual amount of small detail low down, where most cities in this range put nothing. Three little turrets stand in a row at about half height, and they hold the eye longer than the tall tower behind them does.
What is in the drawing
A plain slab opens the left, notched at its base, with a block beside it whose roof drops away in a pitched shoulder. The tallest thing here follows, a tower stepping back twice into a crown with a needle above it, and a slim flat slab stands next to it. Then the three turrets, each finished with a small point and drawn at even spacing. A broad tower with one corner rounded away carries the line past them, a long low hall runs along the base, a small steeple rises off it, and a bridge on two round arches closes the right.
Who buys it
Akron sells to people who left Ohio and to people who stayed and are used to being overlooked, and it is bought as a hometown piece rather than a travel one. The bridge is what most buyers recognise before any of the towers.
Mug or canvas
Coverage of 0.054 puts this among the lighter American drawings, and light is what a small print rewards. The proportion is 2.219 to 1, barely over the 2.14 line that decides whether a mug wraps, so it does, with the ends meeting close to the handle. Those three turrets are tiny but generously spaced, which is why they survive at all on ceramic. Any canvas size works.
