Seattle gives a one-line artist two gifts and a problem. The two gifts are the Space Needle and the waterfront wheel. The problem is that everything between them is a rectangle.

What is in the drawing

Low blocks open the left, then a tower with a peaked cap, and then the Space Needle: a saucer on a waisted stem with the mast running up out of it, the tallest thing in the drawing by a clear margin. A slender spired tower and a box-crowned high-rise carry the middle. Then the wheel, drawn as a full circle with cabins hung around its rim and an A-frame support underneath, which is the only closed shape on the page. Two plain slabs finish the right.

Who buys it

The relocation present. People move here for one job and stay for the water and the mountains, and the ones who move on again keep the outline. It works as a leaving gift from an office too, which is what the 11oz mug is sized for.

Mug or canvas

Of the ten cities with a page here, this is the one whose proportions almost exactly match a canvas, three units across to two down. It fills the face with very little margin left over, which none of the others manage. The wheel is part of why: a full circle takes up real height in the middle of the run, where most skylines have a dip.
