Casablanca opens on a minaret that is square rather than round, standing on a platform far wider than itself, and the drawing never gets taller than that first building.
What is in the drawing
The minaret rises at the left under a small lantern, its platform spreading out below it above an arcade of pointed openings. A walled gate follows, two crenellated turrets either side of a horseshoe arch. A tapering tower stands past it with a small cap. Tall slabs rise through the right, one carrying a flag, and a church with two spired towers and a pointed arch closes the line.
Who buys it
The buyers are Moroccan families abroad and people who came for the name and found a working port. It sells as a gift home more than as a souvenir.
Mug or canvas
The arcade beneath that platform is the fine passage. Coverage 0.076, shape 2.128, which slips under the wrapping point so a mug centres the drawing and the minaret keeps the full width of its platform. Openings separate at 24 by 16.
