Charlotte is the most vertical picture in the catalog. Where most of these skylines run long and low, this one stacks its height into the center and lets the ends drop away to churches and rooftops.
What is in the drawing
Low roofs open the left, one pitched into a steep A-frame over an arched opening and a small gabled house beside it. Then the drawing climbs hard: the tallest tower stands at the center under a rounded crown, its face cut by long vertical strokes, and a second tower with a notched top rises immediately behind it. A pennant hangs from a mast to their right, and a tower finished in a low pyramid stands over a wide banded block. The right end steps down through a small steepled church and closes on a slim spire.
Who buys it
Charlotte is bought by people who moved there for work in the last twenty years, which is most of the city. That makes it a desk piece more often than a wall piece, bought for a new office rather than an old hometown.
Mug or canvas
At 1.56 to 1 this is tall for its width. That number is almost exactly a 3:2 canvas, so it fills the frame edge to edge with very little empty ground, which no other city here does as cleanly. On the mug it is the opposite: the band is wider than the art, so it sits as a centred panel with clear space either side rather than wrapping. If you want the canvas, this is the one that was practically drawn for it.
